HWANG LAB @ PITT

We study RNA processing and its roles in human disease. We are in the Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh. We are members of the Cellular and Molecular Pathology (CMP) and the Integrative Systems Biology Graduate Programs.

RNA processing

Like a swiss army knife, a gene can generate multiple different mRNA isoforms to perform distinct functions. Importantly, human disease can be caused by mistakes in this process. Therefore, we are interested in understanding how RNA processing is regulated and the consequences from abnormal RNA processing in different biological contexts. We developed novel tools to study RNA processing and used them to find new examples of abnormal RNA processing in human disease.
